Our Curriculum Support

Curriculum Support Overview

An Overview of our Curriculum Support

At Liberty in the Wild, our curriculum support is designed to ensure that every child benefits from meaningful, engaging and accessible learning experiences. As an Alternative Provision, we focus on nurturing confidence, curiosity and emotional wellbeing while supporting children’s academic progress through creative, therapeutic and nature-based approaches.

Our curriculum support does not replace a full school curriculum. Instead, it enriches a child’s learning journey by providing subject support, life skills, and opportunities for expression, connection and personal growth.

We prioritise a broad range of subjects and experiences including Art, Drama, Science, Sports, English, Maths, Outdoor Learning, PSHE, and nature-led activities. These sessions help children develop key skills, regulate emotions, build independence and enjoy learning at a pace that feels safe and achievable.

Our approach prepares young people to transition successfully into their next stage — whether that is reintegration into school, placement within specialist provision, or progression into post-16 pathways.

Everything we do is grounded in our ethos:

Nothing ventured, nothing gained — never forgotten.

🌱 Aims

Our curriculum support aims to empower children and young people by:

Providing an inclusive, relationship-based environment that celebrates individuality, safety and belonging.

Delivering high-quality, varied learning experiences that meet emotional and educational needs.

Promoting positive mental health, emotional literacy and self-regulation.

Encouraging healthy lifestyle choices through movement, nature and wellbeing-focused activities.

Celebrating diversity and embracing differences, fostering acceptance and respect.

Developing independence and ambition, helping children recognise their own strengths.

Supporting aspirations and interests to unlock future success, confidence and joy in learning.

🌳 Intent

Our intent is to provide a curriculum support offer that is:

Holistic – addressing emotional, social and academic needs.

Therapeutic – grounded in relational practice, attachment-aware methods, and nature-based experiences.

Accessible – designed to remove barriers to learning and increase confidence.

Flexible – tailored to each child’s developmental stage, interests and EHCP outcomes (where relevant).

Future-focused – preparing young people for reintegration, specialist pathways or post-16 progression.

We aim to ensure every child leaves Liberty in the Wild feeling valued, capable and connected.
