About Liberty in the Wild
Liberty in the Wild is a nurturing, creative alternative provision for children with SEND and SEMH needs. We provide bespoke experiential learning, relational support and therapeutic approaches for children who require something different from mainstream education.
We are also hoping to open our Independent Specialist School in 2026, and this role has the exciting potential to transition into the school once it opens.
The Role
We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Specialist Practitioner to join our team. This role is based within the Alternative Provision initially, supporting children aged 7–16 with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, communication differences and learning difficulties.
You will:
• Plan & Deliver high-quality 1:1 and small-group learning sessions
• Support emotional regulation and behaviour using trauma-informed, relational practice
• Be a part of the reporting and target setting process
• Adapt activities to suit individual needs and interests
• Build positive, trusting relationships with children who may struggle in traditional settings
• Encourage independence, communication and confidence
• Work closely with teachers, mentors, therapists and families
• Be open to transitioning into our new Independent Specialist School & Post 16 Provision in 2026
We’re looking for someone who:
• Has experience working with SEND, SEMH or vulnerable young people
• Is calm, nurturing and emotionally regulated
• Can creatively adapt learning for individual needs
• Uses curiosity, connection and consistency in their practice
• Can support young people during dysregulation
• Is proactive, reflective and passionate about alternative education
• May have relevant qualifications or training (but lived/professional experience is equally valued)

We are also preparing to open our proposed Independent Specialist School in 2026, and this role offers an exciting opportunity to help shape our provision and transition into the school once it opens.
The Role
The role will initially be based within our Alternative Provision, with the intention of transitioning into our proposed Independent Specialist School, subject to registration and regulatory approval.
You will be working with children aged 7–16 with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, communication differences and learning difficulties.
You will:
- Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality learning tailored to individual needs
- Teach 1:1 and in small group settings
- Support emotional regulation and behaviour using trauma-informed, relational practice
- Adapt curriculum content creatively to suit learners’ interests and strengths
- Contribute to assessment, reporting and target-setting processes
- Build trusting, consistent relationships with pupils who may struggle in traditional settings
- Work collaboratively with practitioners, mentors, therapists and families
- Be open to working with our Alternative Provision and Post-16 Provision team.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience teaching or delivering learning to children or young people
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching experience (QTS desirable but not essential)
- Has experience working with SEND, SEMH or vulnerable learners
- Is calm, emotionally regulated and nurturing in their approach
- Can creatively adapt learning to meet individual needs
- Uses curiosity, connection and consistency in their practice
- Is reflective, proactive and passionate about alternative and specialist education
- Has experience within AP or specialist settings (desirable but not essential)
